I left being an elementary school teacher in late 2015 to travel Asia and experience a different life from what I saw in my immediate future.

I have a passion for reading, learning, teaching, and growing as an individual. Seeking to expand on these passions, I moved to South Korea to teach English and fell in love. Eight years later, my wife and I now have a 3-year-old son growing up to be bilingual in Korean and English.

As parents and educators, my wife and I are motivated to document our journey in nurturing our son’s lifelong love of literacy.

In this blog, I will:

  • Provide tips, experiences, and recommendations to my readers for developing early literacy skills.
  • Reflect on books, podcasts, and resources that have been effective and helpful to us in promoting reading, writing, and language development for our son and students.
  • Create an encouraging community of parents and teachers interested in thoughtful reading and writing instruction for all students.
